My Story…

Hey there you gorgeous thing!

Thank you for taking the time to check out my blog. I hope you leave with something of interest and a sense of the shared human experience.

While we’re on the topic of sharing this mysterious and intricate journey of life as a human, allow me to share a tiny bit about my own humanness:

I usually eat too much chocolate, zone out on Netflix and dream wistfully of the things I would love to be doing. (My monstrous inner critic then berates me for these failings and I spend much time frustrated with and disappointed in myself. I’m working on that.)

Outside of this, my life is filled with an unruly variety of interests which I regularly attempt to reign in and hone down without success:

Travel – I’ve lived in and travelled through France, Italy, Spain and India and these experiences absolutely and without doubt transformed me.

Languages – specifically French, Italian and Spanish but also discovering beautiful new words in English, the structure of a language, the subtle meanings held in certain words or phrases that you totally get but you can’t properly translate. It’s like rich music. Speaking of…

Music – classically trained on piano, cello and percussion I am best taking a piece I know and improvising it on piano, adding my own harmonies, my own upbeat style. A rousing Tchaikovsky symphony will always delight me but what inspires me most are the kind of rhythmic, up-beat pop songs that make your body move by itself. Which also leads me nicely into the next important passion of mine:

Fitness – it began with yoga many years ago and then evolved into weights and cardio and all manner of moving my body to feel strong, fit and powerful. I absolutely adore working out to good music. And I am enthralled with the way the human body works. When I say enthralled, I will literally analyse the way people walk on the street (ooh, that lady has fallen arches – ooh, look at the hunched shoulders on that guy…).

Astrology – with the in-depth complexities of your entire birth chart it can help provide a map of your inner world.

And that’s really what I’m constantly striving to do, explore and better understand the worlds within myself and seek out that all elusive, much sought-after thing… true happiness.

At the end of the day, I’m very much a regular person, struggling to make sense of this life and my place in it, hoping to one day wake up with all the answers. And to finally stop eating so much chocolate.

Welcome to Coffee and Scribbles!

  1. Hi Liz, I’ve just finished reading your book, curry chaos and love, I bought it in Skibbereen Market. I didn’t want it to end! I read it listening to Indian instrumental music to take me back to 1990 when I was in India. I haven’t read such an enjoyable book in a very long time. It’s full of the warmth and spice that is India.

    • Hi Alison, you’ve no idea how heart-warming it is to hear that, thank you! India has a certain magic, doesn’t it? Thanks again for the lovely comment and if you ever get the chance to leave a review on Google or our Caraliza website, that would be amazing.
