Curry, Chaos and Love – the story of an Irish-girl’s life-changing journey to India

Drum roll…….

I wrote a book! I published the book! And I finally, fiiiiinally released the book on April 24th at a very special book launch that was one of the best evenings of my life. The venue was perfect, the food was delicious, so many of my friends and family made the effort to come from far and wide and for once, I was the center of attention. I felt so loved and supported.

But I should probably fill you in, since there’s been more or less ‘radio silence’ here on the Coffee and Scribbles blog these past couple months. (Regular blogging will recommence in May.)

Most of you who read this probably already know that I’m married to a funny, exceedingly kind and handsome Rajasthani man, Alex. Most of you will also know that I met him while travelling around India many moons ago. And quite a few of you will know that, for some time now, I’ve been writing a book about that trip; how I bumped into the cheeky chap and the special love-story that ensued.

That book, Curry, Chaos and Love has now at last been released out into the world. My baby is all grown up and has flown the nest. I can’t wait to see what she does in the world, but no matter what, I’m damn well proud of her. (If you’re intrigued, you can pick up a copy here: http://www.caralizadesigns.com/shop or in store in Ballincollig in Snout Gifts and Homeware, Leaf and Bower bookstore or Maurice Healy’s post office.)

Because I’ve done so much of the whole process by myself, I haven’t done a whole lot of promoting besides giving it a good blast on social media (which lately feels like you’re shouting into the abyss. Yay algorithm, yay…) I also don’t sleep properly at night and most mornings I’m up from 6am (thank you baby. She’s cute but she’d be a whole lot cuter if she let me sleep). Hence there hasn’t been a single blog-post or any other writing these past couple of months.

Today’s sleep-deprivation update: it’s nearly 10pm… I’m awake since 5.20am… I only got about six hours of sleep last night… So I’m wrapping up this blog-post with a pat on the back for a job (well) done. One day I’ll get to sleep again (probably when I’m old and incontinent and can’t remember what the hell a blog-post is).

I promise I’m going to write here more often you guys. Absolutely promise. I’ll change my motive to quantity over quality, ha!

Liz

  1. now that I see my comment got through, you have a wonderful way of describing everything, I could feel the heat! As a fellow traveler, though I have not ventured off Europe bar one time to Morocco, I could identify so much with those feelings a lone girl traveler experiences, there is that underlying discomfort that you describe so vividly! Well done You!
