Today was one of the nicest days I’ve had in a long time.
I went out for a walk with Alex and Bowie around 11 am. We got Bowie all wrapped up and cosy in his “eskimo” onesie and I nearly burst from the cuteness. We ended up walking a good long distance as we took a new route in our local park and the exit to the local town was a lot further than I’d thought but it meant that we got some exercize and Bowie got a good solid nap. Win!
We stopped for coffee after our walk and boy was it good coffee, proper tasty black shtuff! Plus an oreo cupcake. So naughty but so worth it.
After that, we called into our graphic designer’s office where we’ve been getting some new tags and a banner designed for our business, Caraliza Designs. It was fun brain-storming with the designer on the lay-out of our pictures and text but by the time we were done, it was nearly 1 pm and I’d arranged to meet up with a couple of Mums I met through a baby massage course.
So I headed straight to the restaurant with Bowie and Alex walked back to get the car.
There were just three of us meeting for lunch, but bear in mind that that’s three Mums plus three babies plus three huge buggies. We took up almost an entire back section. I’m not sure the staff were too pleased. In our defense, Bowie only screamed for about five minutes before falling asleep for his nap and compared with the mess left behind by a Mum’s one year-old at another table, I think we were dream customers.
There’s something about sitting down with other Mums who have babies too and chatting for hours that just makes you feel so good afterwards. I guess it’s like they say, you gotta find your tribe and not only are we at similar stages of motherhood, we’re also like-minded individuals. At any rate, by the time the staff were thoroughly fed up of squeezing past all our contraptions and baby-paraphernalia and Alex had arrived to bring me and Bowie home, I’d been out for over four hours. Four hours! Major milestone for me. And I felt good. Tired but good.
Bowie was in such good form all day, despite his naps being a little scattered due to being out and about. I think though, that that might have had something to do with the amazing night’s sleep both he and I had last night. Wait for it….
Six hours of uninterrupted sleep. That’s right, six! At 10 pm I went to bed and he woke for a feed, after which he settled easily and slept until 4 am and this time, neither one of us stirred the entire six hours. Six solid hours. Ooh la la!
And it didn’t stop there! He slept another couple hours, woke with a leaky nappy which I changed, then went back to sleep snuggled up to his Daddy for another hour and a half.
I’m like a new woman! Which is why, despite my busy day and the fact that it’s night-time as I write this after putting Bowie to bed, this scribble isn’t full of me moaning about how tired I am.
Bowie fell asleep easily enough tonight and while I’m not expecting such miracles as last night again, hopefully we’ll have an ok night. Fingers crossed. And sure, if not, then there’s always coffee, right?
Ciao darlings!
