Man I literally have nothing to write about tonight. I feel lately like I’m in a funk when it comes to these daily scribbles cause the only thing that keeps coming to mind on what to write about is what I did today, what I ate today, what I’d like to do later on today.
Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooring!
So I guess I’ll carry on my theme of travel dreams, except go with holiday dreams tonight.
Number 1
A weekend in Paris with Alex.
That city is too damn beautiful and inspiring with its stunning architecture, cobbled streets, chic style and intricate artwork.; everything is better in Paris, even if you’ve no money because walking and looking is free…
We’d stay in a quirky pretty little hotel, nothing too fancy, but with a distant view of the Eiffel tower from our balcony. We’d sample some coffees and croissants on the Champs Elysee and then pretty much nothing else as these would cost several hundred euro. But they’d be totally worth it.
Yes Paris. Definitely first choice holiday of dreams.
Number 2
Summer camping in France. This might be a strange turn of events after Paris, but I hold a sweet nostalgia for the old family holidays we used go on that always involved driving around France on hot sunny days from one campsite to the next, arriving at gorgeous wooded spots where our spacious Eurocamp tent would be ready and waiting, along with the site’s swimming pool, bar, shop and playground.
Granted I might not use the playground as much these days, but the general theme of being in the beautiful countryside in France surrounded by French rustic villages, hot hazy evenings and lots of swimming in pool (and Alex to share it all with) well, that’s a serious rival to Paris’ number one spot.
Number 3
Summer camping in Italy. Now I’ve never actually done this, but if you imagine all of the above and transfer it to the beautiful countryside of Italy and Italian rustic villages instead… well, that’s a hot contender for the top spot too.
Number 4
Summer camping in Portugal. I’ve never done this either, but if you imagine all of the above and transfer it to the beautiful countryside of Portugal and Portuguese rustic villages…. I’m sure you get the idea by now.
Number 5
Summer camping in Spain
Number 6
Summer camping; anywhere in the Mediterranean.
It seems, after Paris, to be my holiday of dreams. I might be viewing my childhood memories through rose-tinted glasses, but at the end of the day there’s little more relaxing than cutting out the modern nonsense and reverting back to a simpler way of living, waking up outdoors already, walking through nature just to go to the toilet, cooking your food outside, swimming in the sunshine and visiting quiet little towns and old sleepy villages.
Just about any campsite in any country throughout the Mediterranean will have these things in abundance. And right now, I couldn’t think of a better way to have a seriously relaxing holiday.
Of course, I’ve a fair bit of dreaming to do before one of these will become a reality. But don’t worry, I’ll dream big and hard and someday soon, these dreams will come true!
Ciao darlings!
