Today was a long tiring day. But a pretty productive one.
I woke around eight am and after much annoying insistence from himself, threw on a hoodie and some sweat-pants and walked to the local garage, bleary-eyed and puffy-faced, to buy his precious milk as there was none in the house for even a cup of tea.
(Maybe if he didn’t pour half of it all over the car things would have been different… maybe.)
Deciding to make the most of the trip, I grabbed the leads and the two fluff-meisters and strolled the happy pups to the shop, getting the milk and my beloved Sunday Times paper (mainly for all the supplements which I rarely get to finish).
Once home I threw on some more respectable clothes and headed off to a nearby cafe for a precious morning of coffee, scone and plenty reading.
Heaven.
Once back home, I set to work editing products on the website and adding pieces to the shop, updating the section on our markets now that we’re back to most of the usual spots and general business-related jobs.
Alex meanwhile cleaned the house and fed me lunch, bless him. It soothed my ruffled feathers from the morning when I stomped off to get his stinky milk.
Although I’d had many jobs planned for today, the ones I did took longer than expected and by the end of it all, my shoulders were fused like steel up around my ears and my eyes were blurry with tiredness.
So I grabbed my yoga mat and did forty minutes of my old Ashtanga yoga practice, after which I did the usual yogi thing which is to lie flat on your back with a snuggly blanket and chill the fudge out for ten to fifteen minutes.
That combined with the relaxing breathing exercizes just before it, mean that I am now writing this with a happy, calm mind and fresh clear eyes, despite the fact that I thought I was going to combust if I had to do anything else on the computer today.
The power of yoga. I miss having a regular practice but I’m both too lazy and too cautious to resume the old Ashtanga routine, given a) it’s extremely physically demanding and b) every time I return to it my old muscle injury flares up again.
The only difference this time is that I no know that it’s linked to incredibly tight adductors (those muscles on the inside of your thighs that are like steel in horse-riders) and I’ve been stretching them out regularly for the past few weeks and did ten minutes on them this afternoon, so they were warm and limber before I even started yoga tonight.
I miss exercize too. I reckon it was around four weeks between today and the last time I did anything like a hill-walk or cycling or yoga.
Maybe I’ll remedy that someday soon. Cause nothing beats the way I feel now!
Ciao darlings!
