I love being busy, I love having interesting things to do, working at the business, tackling “to do” lists and being on the go.
Being generally busy (and by that I do not mean stressed out or up the walls) that’s what makes a day off so precious. And today was super-sweet.
I spent most of the morning reading, finishing up one of my latest novels. I’m currently in a phase where I’m practically eating up books and it’s so satisfying because I’ve been lucky to read some incredibly stuff, by the likes of Jodi Picoult, Jojo Moyes and a new writer for me, Louise O’Neill.
Having planned on going out to a cafe and getting a few jobs done, I found myself tired and a little head-achy by 12 pm, so I gave up all ideas of any productivity and went back to bed to watch random Youtube videos.
A couple hours later I was feeling more myself and started tackling a few important jobs like the week’s laundry, changing the bed-sheets, tidying up a messy kitchen and got so involved in the housework I found myself scrubbing floors, walls and cupboards for almost an hour.
Finally done with housework (for another few months at least!) I had a quick shower, got dressed up and realized I was starving so I popped over the local supermarket to grab a few bits (which of course ended up being a lot of bits because you should never go food-shopping on an empty stomach).
I came home, had a light snack, lit the fire so the sitting room would be cosy once Alex got home from his market and decided to get my daily scribble done early so I could relax for the rest of the evening.
It was a busy afternoon with all the housework, but I always get so much satisfaction from giving the house a thorough clean and doing all the little domestic chores (besides cooking).
Cleaning is like therapy for me. Some people lose themselves for hours painting or playing music or running… I reckon I lose myself in cleaning. Should probably do it more often.
Anywho, now that all that this little job is also done, I can pour myself a wee Gin and Tonic and go sit by the fire for the night. Seems despite my wishful thinking yesterday, we’re still not into Summer just yet.
Ciao darlings!
