It’s not even 10 am and I’m writing today’s post.
Yesterday was Easter Sunday, aka my relaxing day off, and it was a massive success. I did practically nothing all day.
Nothing work-related at least.
I woke around 9 am, made a peppermint tea, grabbed my Jodi Picoult novel and a chocolate Easter egg and sat in the bright, cosy greenhouse outside for nearly two hours.
After that, Alex and I went to the Lee fields and walked the dogs by the river, just missing the rain and a biting gusty wind that plowed into us towards the end of the walk.

Easter breakfast!
We then drove into town and, leaving our furry friends in the car, went to the new vegan cafe for brunch. Hazelnut lattes, one tofu hotdog, a breakfast fry-up and a completely vegan pain au chocolat…
As they say in Cork, twas pure savage like!
You might think that a pastry with no butter or eggs in the ingredients would be weird, right? But in fact it was delicious, in some ways better than your standard croissant/pain au chocolat, because it didn’t have any buttery greasy residue.

I’m obsessed with the colour pink.
Satisfied and feeling quite virtuous, we headed home in the now heavy rain. Once there, I parked my bum on an armchair with my book and pretty much stayed there for the following four hours. There were a couple brief breaks, one to make myself a gin and tonic, another to grab a small snack, but for most of the afternoon, while Alex went about cooking an intricate new curry recipe, I read. And read. And read.
It was one of those marathon reading sessions. I’ve had them before where I’ve literally spent an entire day-off engrossed in a good book. I love reading. There’s nothing like it.

Hazelnut lattes… so good.
Finally, just after 6 pm, I did some laundry and washed the shower, just to feel as though I hadn’t sat on my arse for the entire day. And then after dinner I discovered a channel on our satellite box that was playing endless episodes of our favourite tv show “A House in the Sun”.
That was the evening’s entertainment sorted.
The entire day there was no Facebook, no Instagram, no updating posts on my phone, no photo editing. No phone at all, besides taking a couple photos while we were out on our walk.
And that, was perhaps what most restful thing about the whole day.
Today, however, it’s back to work I go. In every sense. I must do some social media updates, some blogging (besides this) and of course my shift in the restaurant. Back to reality, you know, like not eating a chocolate Easter egg for breakfast…
Ciao darlings!
