Nearly three whole months of daily writing. It’s great, sometimes I put myself under a lot of pressure to get it done and to write something decent, but usually it’s a great way to practice my craft.
At some point, I need to find a couple niche topics to hone in on and write more specific posts on them. In this case, they won’t be everyday scribbles, they’ll be once or twice weekly posts. But that’s probably not for a while yet, after all, I wanted to do this daily scribbles project for all of 2018.
The trouble with writing it every day and especially doing it late in the day and not having time to come back to it, read over it and edit it before posting, is that it’s never going to be as good as something that I give more time and energy to.
Not that I hear you guys complaining! If anything, I get berated if I post too late in the day and you can’t get your daily fix of my scribbles.
So thanks for that my sweets!
In other news, I’m incredibly taken with the social media posts #ibelieveher and the various stories and opinions being shared on this topic.
It’s a poignant theme and there’s no coincidence that this rape trial in Belfast has gained so much publicity and attention around the recent #timesup and #metoo shares.
This subject deserves a full blog-post of its own, but there’s no doubt about it that for too long, women have been forced to be silent by a power-abusing male-dominated society. This patriarchal society, where did it even come from? Who decided that man was more important, that a woman shouldn’t even vote until 1920, that a woman’s place was to be quiet, work in the home (in the background) while the man could do as he wished, in every sense.
As I said, this topic deserves a full post of its own, so I’ll leave it there for now. But our world is imbalanced and equilibrium needs to be found between men and women, with respect and dignity for the roles each side has to play. The key word there of course, being respect. For all our fellow humans.
Ciao darlings.
