Amateur Photographer turns pro… (Day 73)

I don’t think I have a creative idea left in my body at this point.  I’ve spent around 3 hours staring intensely at my phone editing photos.  To be fair, the photos are pretty damn awesome.  No exaggeration, yes I’m bragging, no I don’t care.

I recently discovered a few tricks with my photo-editing App that is transforming every image I’ve taken into unbelievable, almost magazine-professional-type images.

Considering I’m not a photographer and the app is completely free, this is like discovering a treasure chest you’ve had all along but you didn’t realize.  So many pieces of our jewellery are one-of-a-kind pieces that we may or may not make again, or even be able to make again.

This means that spending approximately ten euro on one photo for a ring that you can only use once, simply does not make good business sense, not until we’re selling our rings for thousands of euros.

So, aside from my brother’s efforts a few years ago (most of which are now sold) and a small exclusive collection that we got done professionally, I’ve tried to photograph the jewellery myself and the results have always disappointed me.

Not even close to what I want.

Only now…. now I’m very very close!

The photos I edited today are looking real good.  This is such a relief because it means I can now get brand new pieces up online all by myself without needing to spend hundreds of euros or put up with poor quality images that break my heart.

There is a catch though.  Because although I have this great treasure trove at my disposal, I can’t just reach in and take all the riches.  I have to first spend a lot of time going cross-eyed, painstakingly touching up all the little details in each image before it’s ready to be uploaded to the website, and that’s after taking all the photos in the first place, which requires a fair amount of work in itself.

But I won’t complain.  Well, I’ll just grumble a little when I discover my brain is fried like a zombie after a long session.  Possibly I also got a little carried away and tried to edit twenty photos today… Next time I’ll do less.

I don’t really want to end up needing glasses in my thirties.  No matter how cool they’d look.

Ciao darlings!
