And snow it continues… (Day 61)

We went outside this morning into a real winter wonderland, everything buried in inches of thick, white powdery snow.  Even the main road outside our house was pristine white, not a mark on it until we waded through it leaving our boots’ imprints in the pure white surface.

Emma may or may not have visited in the night, but the Beast from the East clearly did and it has been snowing pretty much non-stop for the entire day.

Shops, restaurants and regular businesses are shut again as Ireland remains at a stand-still and we all get to take another day off to build snowmen, enjoy bursts of cold followed by snuggles by the fire with piping hot tea.

I constantly remember however, the immense good fortune that I and my family have: we have a roof over our heads, plenty of food in our bellies and the disruption is a few fun-filled days off.

We are extremely lucky people and we need to remember that more often.  Snow good complaining, we’ve got to appreciate what we already have.

For example, right now I get to work on my blogging, stuff my face with Lincoln biscuits and drink rooi bos tea while I procrastinate about the other work I should be doing, such as finalizing details for our website’s homepage and finishing up another blog-post that I started several days ago.

I have all the time in the world to do these things now, there are literally snow excuses.  With that in mind, I’ll keep this brief today and start crossing off a few jobs on my “to do” list which, though daunting right now, will be snow satisfying once I’ve done them.

Meanwhile, I’ll continue to scoff as many biccies as I can because come 4 o’clock my evening sugar-fast resumes and I’ve been snow good about it lately, I’m keen to continue.  Perhaps eating half a packet of biscuits in the morning to make up for the ones I’ll miss in the evening isn’t really the best way to be going about it, but hey!  As long as I’m still following the evening rule (and I very nearly buckled under the weight of temptation last night!) then that’s enough for now.

The good news is that snow far, snow good.  Ha ha…

Ciao darlings!
