It’s 10.43 pm, I’ve just finished my dinner and washed the dishes and I’m just waiting to get this daily scribble done before I can head off to bed.
Why so late?
We were out on the town folks! Or, as normal people would say, Alex and I headed out to the pub for a drink with some friends.
This is a phenomenally rare event for us. Granted we live on a quiet-ish country road several miles outside town, but even when we lived in the city center, we weren’t big into going out. Back then, when rent was a normal expense and not a luxury, we used to invite people to our home and Alex would cook a big curry and light the fire and we would sit around chatting and eating and smoking.
Well, I never smoked. But I definitely enjoyed all the rest of it.
These days unfortunately, we don’t have a cute cosy home of our own. We’re incredibly lucky that we can live a normal comfortable life while growing our business, thanks to having kind parents with a big house and bigger hearts that tolerate us as long-term tenants…
Otherwise things would be very different and most days would be spent working merely to get by. No Caraliza Jewellery, no weekends off and longer hours waitressing.
So although I miss having our own cosy, no-shoes-allowed-inside, home and inviting friends over for dinner, I can also appreciate the huge blessings within our current situation.
And besides, any day now I’ll become a rich and famous author and Caraliza will become the next Cartier (only BETTER!) and sure we’ll be stressed out trying to choose which holiday home we want to stay in next…
Good times they are upon us but even better times are ahead.
It’s nearly 11 pm and I want to have a cup of tea before I go to bed, so on that note…
Ciao darlings!
