Writing everyday is a big challenge.
I don’t want to spew out crap just for the sake of completing this ‘daily scibble’ project, that would be pointless.
But what exactly am I meant to write about? My life really isn’t that exciting nor are my thoughts that deep and meaningful to offer endlessly engaging ideas for my cherished audience (hi Jake!!).
Sure some days the ideas flow out of me like projectile vomit (though they’re usually much better received) and other days it’s like constipation of the mind where each sentence is a laboured grunting effort. (Apologies for the gross references there, for those who don’t appreciate toilet humour, you may want to unfollow my blog; the stuff is guaranteed to plop out from time to time.)
So here I am rambling on about how I’ve nothing to write about… I guess the only thing left is to give you a run-down of my day. Prepare to be bored, ha!
I woke early, had coffee and toast for breakfast and then, in the most gorgeous Winter sunshine, drove West just beyond Macroom with Alex. We visited a friend and had more coffee and fresh fruit scones next to a wood-burning stove with the sun streaming in through the windows.
The house is located in truly beautiful Irish landscape which in today’s weather seemed like the most magical country in the world; craggy hills on all sides, gorse bushes bursting forth in yellow happiness and the rich green coating the verdent fields.
We headed on towards Gouganne Barra, a special spot that holds a picturesque tiny lake and church in the beginnings of wild West Cork, where the wind pierced through our clothes and blew ripples on the lake.
Getting hungry at this stage, we snacked on crisps and salty ‘bombay mix’ (Alex’s favourite) as we drove the rugged, narrow country lanes back home passing through wee villages such as Kealkill and Crookstown, while the clouds finally returned and transformed everything back into the usual dull Irish grey.
We had a proper lunch at 4 pm, I proceeded to get cranky and frustrated trying to design a lay-out for the home-page of our jewellery website and so at 5 pm I took off up the hills with the dogs once again, this time to be treated to the most beautifully epic sunset ever, as the sky turned fifty shades of awesome, right before my eyes.
There was peach, watermelon, fuschia, rose, amber, gold, canary, crimson, cherry, lilac and violet and hundreds more shades that probably don’t even have names… I tried desperately to capture the magnificence on camera, but nothing could equal reality.
Finally, after a long walk and a lot of ‘oohing’ and ‘aahing’, I turned back home, washed the cow poop off my wellies and popped a pizza in the oven.
All of that led to me here, now, writing this and realizing that I’m way over my daily word-quota – that’s me done for another day. And on that note:
Ciao darlings!
